What is Google Video? Uses of Google Video?

Google Video is a free video sharing website and also a video search engine from Google.

Youtube is the overall most popular video sharing/viewing website by far. It started as a project by 3 young ex-employees of the popular site PayPal. However, as of 2006 Google bought out Youtube and has been the majority owner since. But, aside from Youtube, Google also has their own video app.

Google video is basically what it's name implies. It's Google's version of a video search engine. You have probably used their website search engine, and image search engine as well. Like almost all other Google services, it is completely free to use. Google video is very effective in drawing videos from all locations of the web. In using it, you will notice that it seems to be very evenly distributed, meaning that the search results bring up a lot of different sites (it is not too heavily YouTube dominated).

Google video used to offer many other services and features, such as its own unique video player, but many have been discontinued throughout the last couple of years.

Google video seems to be a fairly good and effective video search engine. As long as it continues to keep its search results widely distributed from different sites (not just youtube), then it should offer about all you could ask for in a basic video search engine.
